Big Seventh Propels Dunedin Past Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Dunedin Blue Jays used a five-run seventh inning to take the series opener from the Fort Myers Miracle, 8-6, Friday night at Hammond Stadium.

Trailing 4-3 in the seventh, the Blue Jays tied the game on a one-out single by Riley Adams. Then with two on and two outs, Nash Knight gave the Blue Jays a 6-4 lead with a two-run double to left. Dunedin would add two more runs on consecutive wild pitches.

Fort Myers plated two runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the gap to 8-6. The Miracle brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Jimmy Kerrigan struck out to end the game.

All-star Jaylin Davis drilled his fifth home run of the season in the sixth to give the Miracle a short-lived 4-3 advantage. Davis finished 4-4 and drove in two.

Fort Myers left-hander Charlie Barnes worked the game's first five innings. He allowed three runs on eight hits to earn a no decision.

Kevin Marnon followed Barnes and allowed five runs (two earned) in 1.2 innings. Marnon (0-3) surrendered four hits in suffering his third loss of the season. Alex Robinson pitched the final 2.1 innings without allowing a run.

Angel Perdomo collected his first win of the season with six innings of four-run baseball. Perdomo (1-3) struck out a season high 10.

Jake Fishman earned his first save of the year with two scoreless innings.

The series continues Saturday evening in Fort Myers. Andro Cutura (3-1, 3.57) takes the mound for Fort Myers. He'll be opposed by Zach Logue (1-0, 3.27). First pitch is 6:00 p.m.
