Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters came out of the All-Star Break with their fourth straight win, taking game one with the Lakeshore Chinooks 8-1 on Thursday.

Traverse City was won five of their last six and eight of their last games to increase their division lead.

The offense clicked right away with two runs in the first. Marshall Toole capped off three straight two-out hits with a two-run single.

The bats would go silent until the seventh, but the pitching, mainly the bullpen, kept them in the lead. Adam Christopher only pitched three innings. He struck out two and only gave up one uneared run. Ryan Insco relieved him and was excellent in four innings. He gave up one hit, struck out two and didn't allow a run, picking up the win on the mound.

In the seventh, all nine batters would come to the plate. The first two batters in the inning were hit by a pitch. Evan Orzech singled home the first run in his first game back since June 13. Camden Traficante followed up with a two-run single. Two batters later, Colin Summerhill delivered another two-run base hit. The Pit Spitters took a big 7-1 lead into the eighth.

Mitch White pitched a scoreless eighth and Duncan Lutz a scoreless ninth. The Pit Spitters added one run in the eighth on a Trey Truitt RBI single, taking the win 8-1.
