Big Second Half Propels Slam to Rout of Houston, 155-116

BLAINE, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam scored a team-record 92 points in the second half as they routed the Houston Strikers, 155-116 in an International Basketball League game at Blaine High School on Friday.
Playing their third game in as many seasons in Blaine, the Slam started off sluggish, finding themselves up by just 2 early in the second quarter, at 28-26, after Houston opened the frame with the first three scores.
The Slam gained a little breathing room by halftime, but still led by just seven, at 63-56.
Bellingham's offense got rolling in the third quarter, scoring 39 points which included a 15-4 run in the middle stages of the period.
But as hot at the Slam offense was in the third quarter, they were scorching in the fourth as they posted 53 points. Houston's frustrations got the best of them in the fourth quarter, as they racked up six technical fouls and allowed the game to turn into a laugher.
Morris Anderson led the Slam to their eleventh straight win with 32 points on 12-of-17 shooting. Jacob Stevenson finished with 28.
Mike Moss paced four Strikers players in double figures with a game-high 41 points.
The Slam continue their barnstorming tour next Friday, June 20 as they host the Seattle Flight at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon with a scheduled tip-off of 7 p.m. The Slam return to Whatcom Pavilion to wrap up the regular season on Sunday, June 22 against the Vancouver Volcanoes at 5 p.m.
