Mobile BayBears News Release

Chattanooga, Tenn. – The BayBears and Chattanooga Lookouts played a very unusual baseball game Saturday night as each team scored all of their runs in one inning. For the BayBears it was a five-run third. However, the Lookouts did them one better by scoring six runs in the bottom of the eighth to win game three of their four-game series 6-5.

"They really threw some good pitching at us after that third," BayBears Jon Knott said. "You have to give them some credit. They came up with some clutch hits in their eighth. We have to put this one behind us."

The BayBears jumped out in the top of the third inning. After the first two batters struck out, Mobile had six straight batters reach base, with five crossing the plate. Jake Gautreau and Jon Knott hit back-to-back doubles, accounting for the first two runs. Then following a walk to Joe Gerber, Danny Bravo hit a three-run homerun to cap the innings scoring and gave the BayBears a 5-0 lead.

Mobile starter Chris Rojas threw seven shutout innings as he held the Lookouts at bay. But the right-hander allowed the first two batters to reach in the eighth on a double and a triple and was lifted in favor of reliever J.J. Trujillo.

Trujillo (1-2) would fair no better, as all five Lookouts batters he faced would reach as Chattanooga to the lead, handing Trujillo the loss. The big blow in the inning was Stephen Smitherman's go-ahead, two-run double off the wall in centerfield. R.D. Spiehs came in to relieve Trujillo and put an end to the Chattanooga inning.

The BayBears went in order in the top of the ninth against Lookouts closer Kris Keller, falling 6-5.

The BayBears and Lookouts will conclude their series Sunday afternoon at 1:15. Justin Germano (2-3; 3.13) will get the start for Mobile against Chattanooga's Josh Hall (7-9; 3.41).
