Big Inning Dooms Pioneers
In a game originally scheduled to be played in Watertown the Wizards defeated the Pioneers by a score of 7 - 4. After the Pios jumped out to a 1-0 lead, courtesy of a Pat Hyde sacrifice fly, the Wizards chased Pios starter Mike Kazley with a six run fourth. The big blow was a two run single by Alex Maldonado.
The Pioneers would score a two runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Ty Yesensky and a Justin Lamborn fielders choice. They closed the gap with a run in the sixth on a Ryan Normoyle double. But, the Wizards added a run in the seventh on Eric Gaylord's solo shot. His league leading tenth long ball of the season.
The Pioneers put the tying runs on base in the ninth before Wizards closer Alex Krebs struck out Logan Uxa and Corey Keller to end the game.
The Pioneers finish their three game homestand with another Spectacular Saturday. Tomorrow is Faith & Family Night at Dunn Field. Prior to the game, former Major League star Bernie Carbo, now Director of Baseball Ministries will present testimony to the crowd. After the game, the Party in the Park Concert Series presents the Christian rock band, New Method. "Lucky Fan" giveaways include an HD TV, a DVD player, a diamond accent bracelet, gift certificates and more.
