Bicek commits to Western Michigan

The Cleveland Barons Hockey Organization is proud to announce that forward Brian Bicek has committed to Western Michigan University for the 2004-05 season.

Bicek a 5'9 165lb center from Downers Grove, IL, currently leads the Barons in overall points with 16 goals and 31 assists. In his last season of Midget Major Hockey with the Chicago Chill, Bicek had an impressive 40 goals and 55 assists for 95 points. Brian was the first overall pick in NAHL selection draft in 2003. While in the NAHL he has been in the top five in assist and overall scoring all season. Twice he was named Northern Division player of the week.

Barons Head Coach/GM has this to say about Bicek;" Brian has been a pleasure to coach this season. He brings a great attitude to the rink everyday and plays every game with a lot of passion. Brian will bring a lot of energy to the Western Michigan Hockey Program, and will certainly have success in the CCHA as many of the other former Barons players."

Bicek will join some former Barons Alumni playing currently in the CCHA. The list includes: Michgan States captain Jim Slater, freshman Tommy Goebel, goalie Matt Migliaccio, defenseman Sean Collins at The Ohio State, defenseman Matt Davis at Miami, forward Jim Unger at Bowling Green and forward Brandon Kalenicki from Michigan.

Bicek currently is a senior at Avon Lake High School where he carries a 3.3 GPA
