Bend Elks News Release
Wenatchee salvaged the third game of the series, scratching across a run in the top of the 14th inning to defeat the Bend Elks, 3-2, in a West Coast League game at Vince Genna Stadium Sunday evening.
The Elks had opportunities to win the game, loading the bases in the ninth and twelfth innings, but were unable to push across the winning run.
Trenton Brooks pitched three innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory for the AppleSox, who won one game of the three game set. Adrian Martinez absorbed the loss in relief for the Elks.
Nick Brooks' home run with one out in the ninth inning erased a 2-1 lead, offsetting Jo Carroll's blast for Bend in the fifth.
Kevin Hamann tossed six strong innings, scattering four hits and yielding an unearned run for Bend.
Carroll and Johnathan Brooks each had two hits for the Elks.
Bend travels to Coleman Field at Goss Stadium for a critical three-game series with division rivals Corvallis beginning Tuesday evening. The Elks trail the Knights by one game in the WCL's South Division.
