Green Bay, Wis. (Resch Center) - Quarterback EJ White found running back Mulku Kalokoh in the endzone for a 4-yard game winning touchdown pass as time expired in Green Bay. The Axemen got the ball back with 27 seconds left in the game and drove down the field to win the game at the end of regulation.
The second win of the season for the Axemen was another hard fought, close contest that saw the Bemidji team come back in the final seconds of the game. Last week the Axemen defeated the Billings Wolves in overtime. The game today versus the Blizzard was a back and forth game that saw many high offensive stats for both teams. Bemidji was led by EJ White who was making his second career start in the Indoor Football League and went 16-27 for 178 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. White also had 77 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. The star of the game was Mulku Kalokoh who rushed for 109 yards and three rushing touchdowns to go with 20 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Kalokoh broke the franchise record of most all-purpose yards in a single game with 246 yards along with five total touchdowns. Ryan Balentine led the team with eight receptions for 81 receiving yards and one touchdown. Balentine made some big receptions on the final drive along with playing some defense as Rodney Anthony left the game with an injury. As a team Bemidji had 33 first downs and 378 total yards of offense. The Bemidji offense controlled the clock with a strong rushing game that ended up having the Axemen lead in time of possession 40:15 to Green Bay's 19:45.
The Green Bay Blizzard were led by quarterback Donovan Porterie who went 12-18 for 159 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. Porterie also led the Blizzard in rushing with 19 yards and three touchdowns. Markeith Summers led the Blizzard with 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Marquel Willis also had two receiving touchdowns for Green Bay. Blizzard kicker Jeff Budzien was 2-3 in field goals and 6-6 on extra point attempts.
