The Bellingham Bells (17-13) knocked off the Kitsap Bluejackets (10-23) 4-1 Monday night at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds. Bellingham scored three runs in the final two innings to break open a game that was deadlocked at one after seven innings.

Following Kitsap getting on the board in the first via an unearned run, the Bells responded in the fifth. Matt Ruff singled to lead off the inning and moved to second on a Landon Riker sacrifice bunt. Ruff came around to score on a Shane Hanon RBI single. Bellingham tied the game at one after four and half innings.

The Bells captured the lead in eighth inning. Elijah Skipps walked with one out and moved to second a Jake Vieth single. Following a Gunnar Schubert flyout, Justin Polzin singled to load the bases. Ruff was clipped by a pitch to plate Skipps and give the Bells a 2-1 lead after seven and half innings.

Bellingham capped the scoring in the ninth. Cardenas singled and moved to second on a Hanon sacrifice bunt. Chase Strumpf and Skipps walked to load the bases and Vieth brought home Cardenas on an RBI walk. Justin Polzin finished the flurry with an RBI single to drive in Strump. Bellingham led 4-1 heading to the bottom half of the ninth.

Zach Johnson earned his first start of the summer, and the third year Bell was fantastic, fanning five batters in five innings on the bump allowing only one unearned run. Hunter Haworth was also splendid, tossing two scoreless frames. Jared Horn (1-0) earned his first win of the summer dealing a scoreless eighth inning. Tyler Palm earned the save, working out of a runners on second and third with nobody out jam to shut the door on Bellingham's second win of the second half.

The Bells return to the field tomorrow against the Yakima Valley Pippins. First pitch will be thrown a 7:05, with pre-game coverage starting at 6:35 with Tom Prizeman on https://mixlr.com/bellinghambells
