Bells Drop Game 2 against Corvallis

June 9, 2016 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bellingham Bells News Release

The Bells fell 2-0 in the second game of their series against the Corvallis Knights on Wednesday. The starter for the Bells Keenan Lum threw 5 strong innings, only allowing 4 hits and striking out 3 while walking none. The only problem was that 2 of the 4 hits Lum allowed went over the fence. Taylor Travess proved to be the thorn in the Bells side tonight as he hit both of those homeruns, a solo shot in the first and another one in the third. Those homeruns would prove to be all the Knights would need on the night.

A bright spot tonight for the Bells was the performance of relief pitcher and Squalicum High School grad David Stealy. Stealy came in to relieve Lum in the 6th inning and the righty proceeded to retire the first 10 batters he faced before giving up two bloop hits. He then gave way to Josh Zavisubin, another local product hailing from Sehome HS, in the 9th. Zavisubin proceeded to retire the final two batters of the 9th giving the local duo a scoreless 4 innings to close the game for the Bells. After

On the offensive side of things Ben Welch was 2-4 with a double.
