June 30, 2014 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bellingham Bells News Release
This Friday, July 4, The Bellingham Bells and Sport Restaurant will celebrate the Fourth of July at Joe Martin Field during a special jersey auction fundraiser game, benefiting research for Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).
During Friday's game versus the Cowlitz Black Bears, the Bells will wear special edition uniforms. Throughout the game, fans will have the opportunity to bid on their favorite player's jersey at a silent auction taking place in the concourse. At the conclusion of the game, winning bidders will have the opportunity to collect their jersey directly from the player, with opportunities for autographs and photographs. All proceeds raised from the silent auction will benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute and the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter.
"The 4th of July game will be a very special one at the ballpark," said Bells general manager Nick Caples. "We will be hosting a very special and unique fund raiser that will go to two great organizations that are dedicated to supporting those with Lou Gehrig's Disease, and also support their research to find a cure."
Jose Cofino, who has Lou Gehrig's Disease, will throw out the first pitch. Members from the ALS Therapy Development Institute and the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter will also be on hand for the game.
First pitch for the July 4 contest versus Cowlitz will have a special start time at 1:05 p.m. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m.
