
Belleville Bulls named to OHL All-Star Team

Four members of the Belleville Bulls have been named to the 2008-2009 OHL All-Star Teams. Bryan Cameron, P.K. Subban, and Mike Murphy were all named to the first team while General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett was named to the second team. All four represented the Eastern Conference at the 2009 OHL All-Star Classic in February.
Cameron was named the OHL First Team All-Star Right Winger following a season that saw him record 37 goals and 44 assists while adding 51 penalty minutes in 64 games played. Cameron finished the year with 131 career regular season goals with the Bulls, ranking him fourth all-time. He is also one of two players in franchise history to record four twenty goal seasons and is tied with Cory Tanaka for the club record for career games played in the playoffs with 59.
Subban was named an OHL First Team All-Star Defenceman after scoring 14 goals while adding 62 assists and 94 penalty minutes in 56 games played. Subban finished second in OHL defenceman scoring and led all Bulls defenders in points for a third consecutive season. He also won a second gold medal with Team Canada at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship in January. The Rexdale, Ontario native is the Bulls all-time leader in goals and points by a defenceman in both the regular season and playoffs.
Murphy is the OHL First Team All-Star Goaltender for the second consecutive season. He joins Daniel Cleary as the only Bulls players in team history to be named OHL First Team All-Stars in consecutive seasons. Earlier this week, Murphy became the first player to ever by named OHL Goaltender of the Year in consecutive seasons. Murphy posted a 40-9-2-2 record this season along with a league leading 2.08 GAA and .941 SV%. He also recorded five shutouts and was named OHL Goaltender of the Month three times. The Inverary, Ontario native holds nearly every goaltending record in franchise history including career victories in both the regular season and playoffs.
Burnett was named the OHL Second Team All-Star Head Coach after leading the Bulls to one of their most successful seasons in franchise history. Last season, Burnett was selected as the OHL Third Team Head Coach. Under Burnett's leadership, Belleville won the East Division for a third consecutive season, posting a 47-17-2-2 record.
The OHL All-Star Teams were selected by the OHL's General Managers. Players received five points for a first place vote, three for a second place vote, and one for a third.
