Bees sign defenseman, O'Leary on IR

Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (Central Hockey League) today announced the signing of defenseman Mark Gouett. The team also placed forward Mark O'Leary on the 14-day injured reserve list retroactive to January 20.

Gouett (pronounced gow-ETT) is a 6-foot-0, 210-pound blueliner in his fifth full professional season. The Waubaushene, Ontario, native played four seasons at the University of Vermont, and his pro stops include Jackson (ECHL), Greenville (ECHL) and Long Beach (ECHL), as well as a brief stint with Portland (AHL).

He played the last two seasons with the London Racers (EIHL) and was a teammate of Bees alternate captain Dennis Maxwell there. Gouett also played 11 games in Austria with Lustenau last season, and began the 2006-07 season there before signing with Rio.

O'Leary, a rookie forward, has appeared in 35 games for the Bees and has collected five goals and an assist.

The Bees are on the road this weekend at Youngstown.
