Bees Down 2-0 in Championship Series

Ft. Wayne, IN (September 16, 2009) - The Burlington Bees trail the Ft. Wayne TinCaps 2-0 after losing game two of the Midwest League Championship series 2-0 Wednesday night. The series will not shift to Burlington for the final three games as the Bees are in search of three consecutive wins in order to win the Midwest League title.

Ft. Wayne scored the first two runs of the ballgame. They took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Allan Dykstra then hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend the TinCaps' lead to two runs. Those were the only runs that would score in the game.

Mike Lehmann got the start for the Bees but only lasted 2.1 innings. Lehmann allowed one run on three hits with one strikeout and three walks and was charged with the loss. Brendan Lafferty pitched three innings allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Cole White pitched 1.2 innings of no-hit baseball with two strikeouts and one walk. James Thompson pitched the final allowing two hits with one strikeout.

The Bees were outhit 7-4. Fernando Garcia went 2-3 and was the only Bee with more than one hit. The Bees did not have a hit with a runner on in scoring position.

Game three of the best of five series will be played Thursday night at Community Field in Burlington. Manauris Baez is the scheduled starter with first pitch scheduled for 6:30.
