Bedard Named IHL Player Of The Week

PORT HURON, MI - Port Huron Icehawks left wing Mickael Bedard was named International Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 27, the league announced today. Bedard takes home honors for the second consecutive week.
The rookie forward had another big week for the Icehawks. He tallied a hat trick and an assist in Sunday's win versus the Dayton Gems and finished Week 11 with six points (3g, 3a) in just two games. All of his points came on even-strength goals, giving him a +6 rating for the week.
The 22-year old Montreal, Quebec native is riding a five game point streak with eight goals and four assists in that span. After his big game on Sunday, he has taken over the Icehawks lead in goals and points, with 15 goals and 15 assists this season. He is ranked fifth in the IHL in points and is tied for second in goals. He also leads all rookies in points, goals and assists.
Bedard wins league honors for the third time this season. He was named Rookie of the Week in Week Five and Player of the Week in Week Ten.
The Icehawks are back in action on Tuesday when the Quad City Mallards come to town. The Icehawks also play at home on Saturday versus the Muskegon Lumberjacks, before heading to Dayton for a rematch with the Gems on Sunday.
