
IHL Awards Weekly Honors For Week Eleven

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Port Huron left wing Mickael Bedard has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Fort Wayne right wing Kaliegh Schrock has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Flint goaltender Rob Nolan has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 27th, 2009.
Bedard finished the week scoring three goals and dishing out three assists for six points in two games played. He scored all of his points even-strength, giving him a plus-six rating for the week. The rookie left wing scored his first IHL hat trick Sunday in Port Huron's 6-2 win over Dayton. The same night, he had his most productive game of the season, adding one assist, giving him his first four-point night this season. Bedard is currently riding a five-game point streak, where he has recorded eight goals and four assists. The 22-year-old Montreal, Quebec native is ranked fifth in the IHL in points (30) and is tied for second in goals (15). Bedard also leads all rookies in points (30), goals (15) and assists (15).
Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Bill Bagron, Dayton forward Tim Hartung, Flint right wing John Ronan, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Muskegon defenseman Russ Smith and Quad City right wing Patrick Levesque.
Schrock wrapped Week Eleven of his rookie campaign scoring two goals in two games played by the Komets. He notched in both of his goals on Saturday night in Fort Wayne's 7-2 victory over the first place Muskegon Lumberjacks. Schrock scored his first shorthanded goal of the season that night, which was also his first multi-goal and second multi-point game so far this season. The 25-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana native currently is ranked fourth among IHL rookies in penalty minutes with 63 in 26 games played.
Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Cole Ruwe, Dayton forward Corey Couturier, Flint forward John Mori, Muskegon right wing J.T. Dahlinger, Port Huron forward Brandon Naurato and Quad City right wing Brandon Marino.
Nolan completed the week with a 2-0-0-0 record in three starts. The rookie netminder had a rough 20 minutes in a no-decision Tuesday against Port Huron, giving up three goals. He bounced back Saturday with a 22 save shutout against the Dayton Gems, earning his first professional shutout of his young career. Nolan followed up the next night with another stellar performance, stopping 35 of 36 shots he faced against the Fort Wayne Komets. He finished the week with a.942 save percentage and a1.71 goals against average. The 24-year-old Sherwood Park, Alberta native is currently first among IHL goaltenders in saves (514), save percentage (.929) and is second in goals against average (2.30).
Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Andrew Martin, Dayton's Derek MacIntyre, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo, Port Huron's Larry Sterling and Quad City's Kyle Jones.
