Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers will open the home portion of their 2009 Pacific Coast League season at PGE Park on Friday, April 17, against the Fresno Grizzlies, it was announced today as the club released its complete regular-season schedule.

For the seventh time in nine seasons, Portland begins its season on the road, opening the campaign with a four-game series at Fresno, April 9-12, with an additional four-game set at Sacramento, April 13-16.

Following the opening road trip, the Beavers entertain the Grizzlies for a four-game series at PGE Park, April 17-20, and wrap up their opening homestand with a four-game series against defending PCL-champion Sacramento, April 21-24.

The Beavers' schedule is highlighted by the 2009 Cricket Wireless Triple-A All-Star Game, which will be held at PGE Park on July 15. The annual game, which will be celebrating its 22nd year in 2009, features the top players from Minor League Baseball's top two leagues - the Pacific Coast League and International League - in a head-to-head contest that is annually broadcast to a national television audience. In recent years, the game has evolved from a one-day competition into a week-long, city-wide celebration, and the 2009 game in Portland will include a Home Run Derby, All-Star Fan Fest, autograph sessions, All-Star Gala, All-Star Luncheon and several other events to mark the historic event.

Convenient and affordable season-ticket packages filled with great new benefits are currently available by contacting the Beavers ticket office at (503) 553-5555. For more information on season tickets, Mini-Plans, flex plans, suites and group outings available for 2009, visit www.portlandbeavers.com. Tickets for the 2009 Cricket Wireless Triple-A All-Star Game are available exclusively as part of Beavers' full-season, half-season, 24-game and 12-game plans at this time.

The 2009 home schedule once again includes a traditional July 4 home game against Colorado Springs and a host of afternoon/morning games.

The Beavers, who again play 72 games at home and 72 away, face each of their Pacific Conference North Division opponents (Colorado Springs, Salt Lake and Tacoma) as well as the four teams from the Pacific Conference South Division (Fresno, Las Vegas, Reno and Sacramento) a total of 16 times each (8 home, 8 road).

New to the league in 2009, the Reno Aces are the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks and will play at a new ballpark in downtown Reno, Nev.

The unbalanced schedule pits Portland against the eight remaining teams from the American Conference's two divisions for one four-game series each; the Beavers will play host to Iowa, Memphis, Nashville and Omaha. Likewise, the Beavers travel to Albuquerque, New Orleans, Oklahoma City and Round Rock this year.

Portland, which begins its ninth season as the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, rounds out the season with a four-game series with Las Vegas at PGE Park, Sept. 4-7.

The home schedule includes 34 weekend dates and 10 Thursday night games. Standard home game times will once again be 7:05 p.m. (Monday through Saturday) and 2:05 p.m. on Sundays.

A complete list of promotions on tap for the upcoming season and the Beavers' 20-game FSN television schedule will be released at a later date.
