
Beauvais on the Radar

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League's North Division, are proud to announce that defenseman Brett Beauvais has been recognized by NHL's Central Scouting as a "C" player, that is, being on the radar to be a 4th-6th round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Beauvais, the 18-year-old NAHL veteran, got himself initially noticed with a fantastic rookie year last season. As the youngest player on the Kalamazoo roster, he made an immediate impact on the back end for the Jr. K-Wings. He was able to perform in special teams situations, and was always a steady defense-first defenseman. He was also a member of the NAHL's Top Prospects Young Guns team.
Beauvais, the Summerside, Prince Edward Island native, also had a spectacular NAHL Showcase tournament in front of scouts from all levels, by producing five assists in four games for Kalamazoo.
"Brett has certainly matured as a player in his time since joining our team last season," head coach, Marc Fakler said. "He plays the game with a tremendous amount of poise and has developed into one of the NAHL's top defensemen. This recognition definitely affirms the hard work that Brett has put in to become a better player." He also added: "Our organization is committed to assisting our players advance to the next level."
The Jr. K-Wings will hit the ice again on Friday, September 21st at 7:30 p.m. in Sault Saint Marie, as they take on the Soo Eagles in their first divisional contest of the season.
