Beat Announces Signing of Anne Remy Former UNC Chapel Hill Standout

ATLANTA (Wednesday, May 29, 2002) - The Atlanta Beat announced today the signing of Anne Remy, a former standout for the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, to the reserve squad. The WUSA announced today that each team was allowed to add a third reserve player to each squad.

Remy, 22, a 5'4'' midfielder/forward played for two national championship winning teams at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She reached the NCAA finals all four years while playing for the Tar Heels. Remy was also formerly a member of the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team.

She's is a native of Norman, Oklahoma and has two sisters that played collegiate soccer at Duke University. Remy joins the Beat's reserve squad that includes her teammate at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, goalkeeper, Kristin DePlatchett.

Beat defender Amanda Cromwell, who began the season on the reserve squad, was moved up to active status after defender Lisa Krzykowski suffered a broken left ulna in a collision with a San Jose CyberRays player in the Beat's 2-1 victory over the defending champions on May 18. Cromwell played the entire 90 minutes versus the Boston Breakers in her first action seen all season.
