Newark Bears News Release
NEWARK, NJ, August 4 - The Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club has announced that they will be holding a free kids baseball clinic at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Sunday, August 17th, from 10:30 am-12 pm before the Bears game against the Long Island Ducks at 1:35 pm. Kids are asked to arrive at the ballpark by 10 am.
The clinic, which is geared for children between the ages of 6 and 12, will be run by all Bears players and coaches. It will involve a series of drills with Bears players designed to teach children the fundamentals of baseball. The clinic is solely instructional, and therefore there will be no infield or batting practice taken during the event.
Kids are encouraged to bring their gloves, bats, spikes, and any other personal equipment necessary to facilitate the learning experience.
During the clinic, water will be provided, but as always, no food will be allowed inside the stadium. Families are welcome to bring food to eat outside after the event ends, as concession stands may not be open at that time. If fans would like to bring water into the stadium, they may do so only using water bottles, which have had the labels removed. Following the clinic, fans must exit the stadium. Gates will re-open for the Bears vs. Ducks game at 12:35 pm for a 1:35 pm start.
To better assist the Bears in preparation for the event, we ask that you please register any child who plans to attend, by contacting Josh Eagan at jeagan@newarkbears.com. As well, feel free to contact him regarding any further questions you have about the event.
The 2003 Newark Bears Season will continue at home on Tuesday, August 5th for a three-game series at 7:05 pm against the Nashua Pride. Fans may purchase tickets for upcoming games by visiting the box office at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium, by calling (973) 483-6900 or by logging on to Newarkbears.com.
