
Bears to Hold Fan Fest and Blood Drive on April 5

NEWARK, N. J. - The Newark Bears plan to hold a Fan Fest and Blood Drive in conjunction with an Open Tryout on Saturday, April 5 at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. The Fan Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the Blood Center of New Jersey will conduct a Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
"Spring is in the air and it's time to think about baseball," Bears Vice President/General Manager Chris Bryan said. "The Fan Fest and that whole day will give our fans an opportunity to come inside the ballpark and recharge their batteries towards our team."
The Fan Fest will be held on the stadium concourse and feature autograph signings and a number of games and events for fans of all ages. Fans will also be able to select and purchase single game and half and full season tickets as well. A member of the Bears ticket office staff will walk people down to specific seat locations.
The Blood Drive will be held inside the Newark Athletic Hall of Fame Room. Donors must present a picture I.D. and know their social security number and are encouraged to eat a meal prior to giving blood. Complimentary blood center t-shirts will be given to each donor. Parking for both events as well as the tryouts will be available on a limited basis at the Stadium gravel lot off Bridge Street.
The Newark Bears compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The Atlantic League consists of eight teams in five different states and enters its sixth season of competition on May 1. Single-game tickets are already on sale.
