HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears announced today that the club has signed defenseman Colby Williams to an amateur tryout agreement. The announcement was made by Bears President/General Manager Doug Yingst.

Williams, 21, comes to Hershey after completing what would have been his fourth full season of junior hockey with the WHL's Regina Pats. He played just 19 games due to injury but still managed to produce 12 points (five goals, seven assists). He went on to add nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 12 WHL playoff games.

The 6-0, 195-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan served as the Pats' team captain. In 2014-15, Williams led the Pats' blue line corps with 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists). He also finished the regular season with a WHL-best plus-minus rating of plus-45.

In a total of 211 games with the Pats over parts of six seasons, Williams has amassed 104 points (25 goals, 79 assists) and 269 penalty minutes.

He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
