NEWARK, NJ - January 29, 2007 - The Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club have announced they will hold open tryouts at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Saturday, March 31 at 9:00 am. The admission fee for the open tryout is $40.
Players are to report to The Den at 8:00 am for registrations. Participants must be high school graduates and at least 18 years of age. All those present should provide their career statistics and must supply their glove, baseball cleats, and baseball pants. In 2004, the Paterson, New Jersey native appeared in a team high 46 games and set career highs with six wins and 68 strikeouts en route to being names Bears Pitcher of the Year.
This will be the first season since 2004 tryouts are to be held at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Last season, the Bears held joint tryouts with the Somerset Patriots at Commerce Bank Ballpark due to field construction, and the 2005 tryouts were cancelled due to inclement weather.
