Yakima Bears News Release
(Yakima, WA) - Greg Bordes knocked a two-out RBI single to spark a three-run fifth-inning rally, making six shutout innings from T.J. Hose hold up in a 4-2 win for the Yakima Bears over the Boise Hawks Saturday night at Yakima County Stadium.
Bordes drove a two-out single into left to give the Bears the ballgame's first lead 1-0. David Cooper followed with a bloop RBI single to left to score Roberto Rodriguez and send Bordes to third. The next pitch went to the backstop for a wild pitch to give the Bears a 3-0 lead.
Andrew Fie drove a two-out RBI double to centerfield in the sixth to give the Bears an insurance run that proved big, as Boise scored a run in the eighth on an RBI fielder's choice by Ryan Keedy and another in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Kurt Calvert.
Hose earned his fourth win of the season with six shutout innings, allowing just three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Daniel Vasquez gave up a run in 1.2 innings of relief with two hits and a strikeout. Jordan Meaker pitched 1.1 innings for his fifth save, allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout.
The Bears host the Hawks Sunday at 5:35 p.m., with Ryan Cook on the mound for Yakima in the second of the three-game set.
