
Bears Activate Banes

The Newark Bears activated pitcher Brian Banes from the disabled list, and placed pitcher Mike Ness on the disabled list retroactive to May 17, the club announced Tuesday.
Banes (LS-1), spent the 2011 season with the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League and finished with a 10-4 record with a 3.07 ERA in 20 starts, including 60 strikeouts and 40 walks.
In his first start in 2013, Banes pitched eight innings and allowed just one earned run on four hits against division leading Quebec.
Ness (LS-1) played the 2012 season with Newark and the New Jersey Jackals, as well as the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League. He finished 13-3 with a 3.06 ERA and recorded 109 strikeouts in 156 innings pitched.
