Week At A Glance â Start of the inaugural season is upon us. The Beacons' first game scheduled for Friday October 11, 2002 against the Kalamazoo Wings. Kalamazoo had pre-season action last weekend against the Fort Wayne Komets. Friday Kalamazoo pulled out the win 1 â 0 late in the third. Saturday Fort Wayne came back ready to play and had the victory 4 â 0. The Beacons have back to back action this weekend when they host Missouri River Otters Saturday October 8, 2002. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
Sit Down With Coach At The HAC â First ever coach's show is scheduled for Wednesday October 9, 2002 from 7 -9 PM at the HAC (Huron Athletic Club) located downtown at 319 Huron Avenue. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Head Coach Brad Jones and the 2002 - 03 Beacons. This will give the fans a chance to ask questions about the upcoming season and interact one on one with the new team. The HAC is offering drink specials and sponsor prizes will be handed out through the evening.
Mascot Siting â Port Huron Hospital has invited Captain Breaker to their Emergency Center Groundbreaking Fall Tailgate Party Wednesday October 9, 2002 from 4:30 â 6:30 PM. The tailgate party will be located at the Port Huron Hospital, 1221 Pine Grove in the East parking lot. There will be activities for the entire family from pumpkin painting to button making.
Host Hotel Named - Fairfield Inn by Marriott is the Port Huron Beacons' host hotel for the 2002 â 03 inaugural season. The team rate for the season is $55 a room per night. Fairfield Inn is located at 1635 Yeager Street; Port Huron, MI 48060. Directions to Fairfield Inn Port Huron from Interstate 94 exit Water Street (exit 274) turn right to Yeager Street and turn right again. Player Update â The Beacons have released goalie Marc Anthony Franco from their training camp roster. Twenty players remain active on the training camp roster. Regular season roster will be finalized late Wednesday or early Thursday.
Beacons Lose Bournazakis For Weekend â Peter Bournazakis will miss the Beacons first 2 home games due to a suspension handed down by the Central Hockey League at the end of last season. The penalty resulting in the suspension was in game against
