
BayHawks' Third Quarter Burns Energy at Showcase

SANTA CRUZ, CA. Jan. 18, 2015 - With three players scoring at least 20 points, the Erie BayHawks knocked off the Iowa Energy on day four of the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung.
Seth Curry, the leading scorer amongst active players in the D-League, compiled a game-high 25 points, five assists and four rebounds with his brother (Golden State Warriors guard, Stephen Curry) in the stands. Curry entered the game also leading the league in 3-point field goal percentage at .519 (81-of-156) and he added to that lead in this contest, as he nailed five-of-nine three-point attempts.
After a back-and-forth first half, which saw 10 lead changes and the BayHawks leading 58-55 at the break, Erie forced some separation early in the third quarter. Trailing 59-58 at the 11:03 mark of the third frame, Jarvis Williams' layup shot put Erie in the lead and sparked a 12-2 run over three minutes and forty-three seconds to put the BayHawks in the lead 70-61. Williams finished the game with 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds and two steals. Eight of his points came in the third quarter where Erie outscored Iowa 34-18, which proved to the difference in the game.
Erie continued to pull away as they saw their lead grow to as many as 21 at 92-73 early in the fourth quarter.
Drew Crawford finished with 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting to go along with nine rebounds, one assist and one block in the win.
Damien Wilkins led the way for Iowa with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists. Newly acquired Tyrus Thomas, a seven year NBA veteran who played for the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Bobcats had his strongest game since signing with Iowa on Jan. 13, recording a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Erie and Iowa both concluded their stays in Santa Cruz with splits. Iowa stands at 10-11 heading to Sioux Falls to take on the Skyforce on Jan. 22. Erie (8-16) will try to carry their momentum into their next match when they host the Maine Red Claws on Jan. 21.
