Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, March 8 - The Erie BayHawks took the floor with three new players on Friday night following a flurry of roster changes during the week. Looking to avenge a loss at the hands of the Springfield Armor on Monday night, the BayHawks controlled the game and downed the Armor by a final score of 111-105.

Erie (21-18) closed out the first quarter ahead by six despite Springfield's Kris Joseph scoring 14 points. The BayHawks grew their lead to 14 shortly before the end of the half but the Armor (14-24) cut the deficit to nine at the break. Joseph led all scorers with 17 first half points while Erie's Kyle Goldcamp had a solid first half effort with 11 points and six rebounds.

The BayHawks used eight third quarter points from newcomer Mustafa Shakur to stay ahead of Springfield and take a 10 point advantage into the final stanza. Erie held it's largest lead of the game when Erik Daniels converted a free throw with four minutes remaining to put the BayHawks ahead by 17. Springfield fought back valiantly but ran out of time and fell by a final score of 111-105. The win snaps Erie's three game losing skid after they recently dropped three of four road games.

Cory Higgins paced Erie with 22 points. Goldcamp finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, Demonte Harper had another solid contribution off the bench with 17 points and Shakur finished with 16. Joseph led all scorers with 34 points for the Armor. Springfield's Ben Uzoh chipped in with 16 and Willie Reed finished with 14 off the Armor bench.

The BayHawks return to action when they welcome the Bakersfield Jam to the Erie Insurance Arena tomorrow night. Springfield returns home and hosts the Texas Legends after a lengthy layoff on Thursday evening.
