During a rain-soaked game littered with penalties, the Washington Bayhawks (1-3) of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) lost a close contest to the Toronto Nationals (3-1) by a score of 17-15 on Thursday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Midfielder Kyle Dixon led the Bayhawks with four goals and one assist, and three Bayhawks rookies made their MLL debuts.
"Our play was inconsistent throughout the night," said Bayhawks Head Coach John Tucker. "We need to put together a more complete game as a team. We're still looking for the right chemistry of guys. We're close to finding it, but we aren't there yet."
Danny Glading, Matt Abbott and P.T. Ricci all started the game for the Bayhawks in their first MLL action. Glading scored his first MLL goal, and Abbott and Ricci both collected key ground balls throughout the game.
Dixon started off the scoring against the Nationals with a goal and an assist in the first four minutes of the game. The Nationals went on a three goal run until Jed Prossner broke up their scoring with an assist from Spencer Ford with 4:17 left in the quarter to tie the game up 3-3.
