
BayHawks' Johnson Earns All-Defensive Second Team Honors

Erie, Pennsylvania, Saturday, April 16, 2011 ¬" Erie BayHawks ¬â¢ forward Ivan Johnson was named to the NBA Development League ¬â¢s 2010-11 All-Defensive Second Team today as voted on by the league ¬â¢s 16 head coaches.
Dakota Wizards center Chris Johnson, currently of the Portland Trail Blazers, was voted the league ¬â¢s Defensive Player of the Year.
Joining Chris Johnson on the All-Defensive First Team are Iowa Energy guard Othyus Jeffers, who ended the season with the Washington Wizards, Texas Legends center Sean Williams, Tulsa 66ers forward Larry Owens, who also ended the season with Washington, Utah Flash forward Tony Gaffney and guard Orien Greene, who earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the New Jersey Nets.
In addition to Ivan Johnson, the second team includes Idaho Stampede guard Cedric Jackson, Maine Red Claws guard Mario West, who ended the season with the New Jersey Nets, Utah forward Ronald Dupree and Austin Toros center Marcus Cousin, who is currently on the Houston Rockets ¬â¢ roster, on assignment to Rio Grande Valley.
Ivan Johnson, the BayHawks first-round draft pick in the 2010 D-League Draft, averaged 22.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.5 blocks per game during the regular season. Johnson was a fierce defender for Erie who would often look for opportunities to step in and draw an offensive foul. He was also a First Team All-NBA Development League selection.
Chris Johnson joins Greg Stiemsma (Sioux Falls, 2009-10), Brent Petway, (Idaho, 2008-09), Stephane Lasme (Los Angeles, 2007-08), Mouhamed Sene (Idaho, 2007-08), Renaldo Major (Dakota, 2006-07), Derrick Zimmerman (Austin, 2005-06; Columbus 2004-05), Karim Shabazz (Charleston, 2003-04), Mikki Moore (Roanoke, 2002-03) and Jeff Myers (Greenville, 2001-02) as winners of the NBA D-League ¬â¢s Defensive Player of the Year Award. This is the first year the NBA D-League has named All-Defensive teams.
