Erie, Pennsylvania, Thursday, January 23 - The BayHawks hosted the Springfield Armor on Thursday night at the Erie Insurance Arena. The BayHawks held a 24 point lead in the first half and escaped a late charge by the Armor to down Springfield, 100-94.

Erie (7-16) controlled the first quarter as they connected on 56.5% of their shots from the floor, including four of six three-pointers to hold a 30-18 lead after one. The BayHawks continued their hot shooting in the second quarter as they extended their lead to 61-44 at the break. Dennis Horner led all scorers with 16 points and eight rebounds in the first half for Springfield (6-16). Scott Suggs connected six of his nine shots for 15 first half points for Erie.

Springfield managed to cut the deficit to 10 points after the third frame. The Armor went on a 14-2 run in the fourth quarter to draw within one point with 4:42 remaining in the game. BayHawks newcomer Micah Downs converted a clutch attempt and Alex Oriakhi followed that up with a tip-in to put Erie ahead by five with under a minute remaining. Suggs and Justin Brownlee connected on three of four free throws down the stretch to keep Erie ahead and they finished off the Armor 100-94.

Suggs paced Erie with 20 points and six rebounds. Brownlee continued his hot streak with 19 point while Lewis Jackson added 14 in his first start for the BayHawks. Horner led the Armor with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Jeff Foote pitched in with 10 points and 15 rebounds and Springfield also got solid contributions from Adonis Thomas (17), Larry Anderson (17) and Darius Johnson-Odom (16).

The BayHawks will return to action on Saturday when they host the Iowa Energy. Springfield returns home tomorrow to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
