Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, March 9 - The camouflage uniforms the BayHawks wore on Friday night may have worked as Reno seemed like they couldn't find any BayHawks to defend. On "Salute Our Troops" Night, presented by LECOM, Erie (20-17) was able to close out their five game homestand with an emphatic victory.

It was actually the Bighorns (18-20) who jumped ahead to an early advantage behind 12 first quarter points from Andre Emmett who recently returned from a stint with the New Jersey Nets. After beginning the second quarter down by seven, Erie was able to flip the score and take a ten point lead into the half, thanks to Donald Sloan's 23 first half points. The BayHawks shot a blistering 67% (14 of 21) and turned five Reno turnovers into eleven points on their way to a 39 point second quarter effort.

The BayHawks continued their dominance in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 22 points. The fourth quarter was no different as Erie held a 28 point advantage at one point, their largest of the game. Reno was able to lessen the margin before the end of the game, however Erie prevailed by a final of 130-113.

Seven of the eight BayHawks players who saw action recorded double digit point totals. Sloan led the way with 29 while D.J. Kennedy added 23 and Jeremy Green scored a season-high 21 points off the bench. Kyle Spain and Kyle Goldcamp both scored 17, Tyrone Brazelton added 11 and Marvin Phillips tallied 10. Reno was paced by the league's leading scorer and former BayHawk Blake Ahearn who scored 32 points in his return to the Tullio Arena. Emmett scored 24 while Zach Graham and Christopher Ayer also added double figure scoring efforts.

The BayHawks hit the road and will take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Tuesday. Reno travels to Canton on Sunday to face the Charge. The BayHawks will return home on Thursday, March 22 to play the Charge as Stanley Steemer will give away frisbees to the first 1,000 fans through the doors.
