Bayhawks Announce 2009 Schedule

Washington, DC -- The Washington Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced their 2009 MLL schedule today. The Bayhawks will play all six of their 2009 home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, MD.

The Bayhawks schedule is set around many local events which creates an exciting summer lacrosse program for the community and for Bayhawks fans. The Bayhawks open the 2009 season at home against Toronto on Friday, May 15th. Face-off is set for 7:30pm, and this game will mark the inaugural game for the newest MLL franchise. It is also the first MLL game of the 2009 season. Opening Weekend is aligned with the college lacrosse quarterfinals which will also take place at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Sunday, May 17th.

After a two game road trip, the Bayhawks return home for their second game in Annapolis in Week 4 with a Thursday night showdown against Toronto. The game time is set for 7:30pm.

Father's Day Weekend is another exciting lacrosse weekend in Annapolis with multiple lacrosse tournaments on both the boys' and girls' side of the game. MLL action will be in Annapolis that weekend too as the Bayhawks host the Boston Cannons on Friday, June 19th at 7:30pm.

As the summer holiday arrives, the Bayhawks will celebrate Independence Day with a Saturday, July 4th game against the Long Island Lizards at 7pm. Fans are invited to enjoy the annual fireworks display in Annapolis over the Chesapeake Bay following the game. The Bayhawks and the Lizards are bitter rivals having squared off in four of the MLL's first five championship games. Both franchises have two MLL titles, and they are each seeking to add a third in 2009.

The MLL All-Star Game is set for Thursday, July 16th in Denver, CO at Invesco Field. When the Bayhawks return to action, it will be Saturday, July 19th at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium against the Denver Outlaws. The Bayhawks are 1-1 against the Outlaws coming into 2009 with a big win last season at home. Game time is set for 7pm.

Washington's home game finale will come on Saturday, August 1 at 7pm against the Chicago Machine. The Bayhawks are planning many fun activities for the evening to celebrate an exciting 2009 season.

In addition to the Bayhawks playing all of their 2009 home games in Annapolis, the MLL recently announced that Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium will be the site for the 2009 MLL NB Zip Championship Weekend. The MLL semifinals will take place on Saturday, August 22nd with games at 12pm and 3pm. The championship game will be played on Sunday, August 23rd at 1pm.
