BayBears win second straight over Barons

Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile BayBears received their second strong outing from their starting pitcher Saturday night as Chris Oxspring, making his first start of the season, worked four shutout innings, with reliever Brad Baker following him for two more to earn his first win of the year. Mobile knocked around Barons' starter Neal Cotts (6-2), winning their second straight, 5-2, before 4,866 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Oxspring struck out six while allowing just four singles in the start. Baker (1-4) threw the next two frames, striking out two Barons, giving up one hit for the win. Rusty Tucker worked a scoreless ninth for his 13th save of the season.

The BayBears scored twice in the first on Jon Knott's double off the center field wall, scoring Todd Donovan and Bobby Scales. Mobile added three more runs in the sixth. Sclaes crossed the plate on an infield groundout by Danny Bravo then, with two outs, Rich Gomez and Khalil Greene followed with RBI singles.

Birmingham plated two runs off of reliever Alan Webb in the seventh. With two outs Danny Sandoval doubled in Carlos Maldanado and Guillermo Reyes drove him in with a single.

Game three of the series is Sunday night at 7:05. RHP Duncan McAdoo (1-1; 3.33) will start for Mobile against Birmingham's Enemencio Pacheco (4-0; 1.46).
