Mobile BayBears News Release

Chattanooga, Tenn. – The BayBears and Chattanooga Lookouts took 12 innings Friday night to decide a winner in their back and forth contest. The BayBears finally took control of the game scoring twice in the top of the 12th on a two-run single by Humberto Quintero to make the final 7-5 in game two of their four game series.

"It was a slider down," Quintero said. "I was looking for anything at that point. I swung hard and got it. It felt good to win the game. Everybody put out a great effart and that' what we needed tonight."

With the win, the BayBears move back to the ..500 mark on the second half. With Birmingham's win over West Tenn however, they will stay at 3.5 back of the Barons in the standings with 10 games remaining on the season.

The BayBears got on the board first as Jake Gautreau drove in Freddy Guzman with a first inning, bases loaded sacrifice fly.

Chattanooga took the lead, however, in the bottom of the first. After a sacrifice fly by Edwin Encarnacion, Guye Senjem hit a solo homerun off of BayBears starter Duncan McAdoo.

Mobile tied the score at 2-2 in the top of the third as Guzman scored his second run of the game after stealing second and third base. Humberto Quintero singled in Guzman for the BayBears to tie the game.

The seesaw battle continued in the bottom of the fourth as the Lookouts tied the game once again as Wilmy Caceres drove in a run with an infield single.

Danny Bravo drove in Gautreau with a single to right to give the BayBears a 4-3 lead in the seventh. But in the bottom of the ninth the Lookouts tied the game once more as Encarnacion drove in Caceres with a two out single to center off of BayBears closer Bryan Gaal to move the game into extra innings.

The BayBears took the lead in the top of 11th on Jake Gautreau's fourth hit of the night, a double that brought in Jon Knott. Par for the course, the Lookouts tied the game in the bottom of the frame. Jeff Bannon reached base on an error by BayBears shortstop J.J. Furmaniak setting up another RBI single by Encarnacion.

The BayBears will send Chris Rojas (5-10) to the mound Saturday night against the Lookouts' Daylan Childress (1-4). Game time from Chattanooga is set for 6:15.
