Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, trimmed a four-run deficit to one but lost their seventh straight game 5-3 to the Chattanooga Lookouts Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Trailing 4-0 in the sixth, Jahmai Jones started the rally with his first Double-A home run. The two-run blast cut Chattanooga's (45-51 overall, 9-18 second half) lead in half. Zach Gibbons added an RBI single in the seventh.

However, Mobile (48-46, 11-15) left runners in scoring position in three of the last five frames and could not get any closer. The Lookouts tacked on an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Omar Bencomo (6-4) retired the first 12 batters of the game before a leadoff single in the fifth. He allowed two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a first-inning home run off Jason Alexander (0-4) and two RBIs.

Jose Rojas extended his on-base streak to 16 consecutive games, going 1-for-3 with a walk.

The BayBears continue the five-game home series against the Lookouts Friday at 7:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Jeremy Beasley (1-1, 3.60 ERA) is scheduled to make the start for Mobile.
