
BayBears Blanked by Blue Wahoos in Series Finale

The Mobile BayBears dropped their series finale with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, falling 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Blue Wahoos held Mobile to just two hits as the BayBears were shut out for the second time in the second half. Pensacola scored the lone run on nine hits, stranding six runners on base. With the loss, the BayBears are now 7-10 against Pensacola this season.
The Blue Wahoos scored the game's only run in the eighth inning when Billy Hamilton reached on an infield single and scored in the next at-bat with a RBI double from Josh Fellhauer. Hamilton paced the top of the Blue Wahoos lineup, recording with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. RHP Brian Pearl earned his first win in relief for Pensacola after holding the BayBears scoreless in the seventh inning. RHP Curtis Partch recorded the final six outs of the game to earn his sixth save for the Blue Wahoos.
BayBears starting RHP Derek Eitel (pictured above) did not factor in the decision, holding Pensacola scoreless in six innings, allowing just five hits. RHP Eric Smith worked a scoreless inning in the seventh and De La Rosa pitched the final two innings. De La Rosa was credited with the loss, allowing one run on three hits.
After an off-day on Monday, Mobile will travel to Pearl, Mississippi on Tuesday, July 25, for a five game series with the M-Braves, starting at 7:05 PM.
