HOOVER, Ala. - With a five-run burst in the top of the fourth inning, the BayBears hammered past the Birmingham Barons with a 7-5 victory on Friday night at Regions Park in game two of the South Division Championship Series.

Tied at 1-1 entering the fourth, Hector Santiago (0-1) couldn't hold it together for the Barons (1-1) as he walked Jake Elmore and Ollie Linton to begin the frame before committing an error on a sac bunt by Adam Eaton to load the bases.

A.J. Pollock bounced into a fielder's choice, and Santiago went ahead two strikes on Daryle Ward before Ward spun a ball through the right side to deliver home Linton and Eaton, putting the BayBears (1-1) in front by a pair. Ryan Wheeler's RBI double down the left field line sent Pollock to the dish. Taylor Harbin cracked a sac fly while Marc Krauss knocked in Wheeler with an infield hit.

Krauss also stroked an infield single to third to give the BayBears a 1-0 cushion. It was their first lead of the series which didn't last long as Jake Oester homered off Jarrod Parker (1-0) in the bottom of the third to even the score.

Parker was strong in his six innings while surrendering two runs. The bullpen struggled a bit as Bryan Woodall coughed up a tally in the seventh while Yonata Ortega allowed two in the ninth before Christian Marrero lined out to center with a man on third to end the ballgame.

Left-hander Tyler Skaggs (4-1) starts for the BayBears in game three of the best-of-five series on Saturday night at 7:05 against fellow lefty Charlie Leesman (10-7) as the series shifts to Hank Aaron Stadium for the final three. There will be a Saturday Night Playoffs Fireworks show after the contest and a 9/11 tribute. The broadcast will be available, starting at 6:45 with the BayBears Pepsi Pregame Show, on www.baybearsradio.com, ESPN Radio HD 107.3 FM HD-2 and Comcast Cable Channel 45.
