Bay Sox Finish 2013 with Dominant Victory

The Bay Sox ended their 2013 season on Friday night with a 7-0-shutout victory over visiting Ocean State Waves at Paul Walsh Field.

Jake Salpietro (Fairfield) hit his first homer of the season in the eighth to add to the Bay Sox seven runs.

Also helping the New Bedford offense was Ryan Plourde (Fairfield) who went 2 for 3 with a walk. Plourde scored two of the Bay Sox runs and added two RBIs.

Chris Shaw (Boston College) had another big night at the plate going 3 for 4. He scored one run and recorded one RBI.

Shaw also spent time on the mound tonight. He pitched one inning, gave up one hit and struck out two batters.

Matt Burgess (Crowder) was the only Wave with multiple hits. Burgess went 2 for 4 including a double and a single.

Tonight's winning pitcher was New Bedford starter CJ Tsoumakas (Rhode Island). He spent six innings on the mound and gave up just five hits and struck out six.

Receiving the loss tonight from Ocean State was their starting pitcher Brendon Allen (Jefferson). He pitched four innings, gave up six runs on eleven hits and struck out three.

The Bay Sox end their 2013 season with a record of 20-24.
