Battling Barrie

Indianapolis Vipers News Release

This one turned into a nail biter! My manicure may never recover! Prince scored first blood, extending his point streak to nineteen games. Prince added another in the second, but Barrie caught up...then they got another...and another...with no answer from our boys! Mid-way through the third Graovac snuck one past the colts netminder and the momentum started to shift. Just under five minutes later Janes slapped one in and we had a tie game. We headed to overtime. Some close calls through the overtime, but no score....we went to the shootout. Talk about a marathon! It went seven shooters, and the Colts took the two points with a 5-4 shoot-out win.

In the stands, despite the nasty weather, we had a blast! I had Dan and Bailey raring to go for the Tamarak Upgrade your life trivia. Bailey was pretty excited to be here and he was getting ready to shave his head. Tonight's game was the Shave For The Cure game. Lots of brave people, going bald for a great cause and $30,000 was raised! It's always a cool thing to do and you can see, it wasn't just the guys, but some brave women too.

During the first intermission we played a game I want to play every intermission! FunatoriumExplorium.ca were here and they brought the amazing bodyzorbs! Basically two families inside big plastic bubbles, bouncing all over the ice. It was a blast and the two families were great sports. Thanks to VIA Rail, they also got great prizes. And my stomach hurt from laughing so hard!

We gave away a 42" Bleeker Stereo TV in the third as we always do and our winner was really excited. He was also really glad he had braved the weather to come to the game. Two hours on the Queensway to get her from Orleans! Wow he really loves this team!

So that's what you missed at the game today. I really hope you'll be at the next one. Coming up on Sunday it's going to be a tough tilt with London and it's also our salute to first responders game. We'll be honouring the Ottawa Fire, Police and Paramedics. About a thousand of them will be here. Come on out and lets show them how much we appreciate all they do. They sure got a work out today with this awful snowstorm!
