Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release

The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings lost to the Arkansas Twisters 69-55 in a thriller on Saturday Night in front of 3,810 fans at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, La. The loss drops the BattleWings to 3-5 on the season and out of 1st place in the Southwest Division. The BattleWings loss total of 5 is the same amount of regular season losses the team had all of last season.

The BattleWings traded scores with the Twisters in the 1st quarter as BattleWings' WR's Chavis McCollister scored on a 1 yard run and Manwell Talbert caught a 11 yard TD pass from Gary Cooper to go into the 2nd quarter tied at 14. The Twisters dominated the 2nd quarter as QB Kyle Rowley tossed a pair of touchdown passes WR's Jon Schoonover and Jamaal Perry. The Twisters defense was equally impressive as they shutout the BattleWings offense in the 2nd quarter to take a 27-14 lead to halftime.

The second half was a roller coaster ride for fans as each team scored six touchdowns. WR Chris Denney lead the way for the Twisters in the second half with three touchdown receptions while WR Chavis McCollister lead the offensive charge for the BattleWings with two rushing touchdowns(13 and 4 yards) and two receiving touchdowns(20 and 3 yards). Unfortunately for the BattleWings, the defensive unit was unable to match their offensive counterparts performance on the evening as they only had two defensive stops in the game.

The BattleWings will host the af2 defending champions Tulsa Talons next Saturday at 7:05 at the Century Tel Arena in Bossier City, La. The BattleWings will try to avenge a 43-57 loss earlier this season on May 3rd against the Talons.
