Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Amarillo Dusters put an end to the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings season with a 59-45 victory in front of 4,186 rowdy fans at the CenturyTel Arena in Bossier City on Saturday night. The BattleWings drew first blood when WR PJ Winston collected a 15 yard touchdown pass from QB Gary Cooper. The teams traded scores throughout the 1st half, but the Dusters took a 31-28 lead into halftime after K Jacob Felton hit a 24 yard field goal with 16 seconds left in the 1st half.

The Dusters opened the 3rd quarter with two early scores from WR Jim Lukowiak and FB Wallace House, but the Wings answered back with a 5 yard touchdown pass to WR Kenneth Williams and a 15 yard touchdown pass to WR Manwell Talbert. BattleWings' K Art Carmody tied the game at 45-45 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, but that would turn out to be the final points of the night for the BattleWings who were shut out the rest of the way by a stingy Duster defense and an even stingier officiating crew.

The BattleWings who fell to the Dusters early in the regular season suffered a debilitating loss when WR Chavis McCollister went down with an ankle injury at the end of the 1st quarter. The Dusters will now travel to the West coast to take on the winner of the Central Valley-Spokane match-up in the National Conference Championship game.
