Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings continued their winning ways as they beat the Texas Copperheads for the third time in three matchups dating back to last season. BattleWings DB Chris Ibezim got the BattleWings rolling with a 16 yard interception return for a touchdown with 13:23 remaining in the first quarter. The BattleWings then sandwiched a Shaun Rochon touchdown catch with two passing touchdowns of their own as Gary Cooper connected with Chavis McCollister on a 7 yard toss and Dustin Johnson on a 12 yarder.
The BattleWings scored twice in the second quarter as QB Gary Cooper connected with WR Kenneth R. Williams both times which gave the BattleWings a 35-20 lead at halftime.
Bossier-Shreveport continued their dominant ways as they outscored the Copperheads 25-21 in the second half. Jason Schule led the way with two rushing touchdowns from 3 and 6 yards out. Wr's Chavis McCollister and Manwell Talbert each had receiving touchdowns in the 2nd half as well.
The defense that sacked the Copperheads' QB's for a combined 19 times in 2007 did not register a single sack this game, but did pick off four passes for interceptions. Phillip Geiggar (BattleWings career INT leader) prevented any Copperhead comeback with a 48 yard interception return for a touchdown with 5:10 remaining in the game.
