 Green Bay Gamblers

Battle of Eastern Conference Contenders

February 21, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Green Bay Gamblers News Release

Fresh off a weekend sweep over the Sioux Falls Stampede, Green Bay will square off with Muskegon in a battle of Eastern Conference Contenders. The last time these teams met, the Gamblers swept the Lumberjacks in a three-game series in Muskegon. The Lumberjacks will be looking to get revenge when they come to the Resch on Friday. Green Bay and Muskegon are currently tied for second in the Eastern Conference with 56 points. The Gamblers have played in two less game though.

The Gamblers were explosive offensively last weekend in Sioux Falls scoring 11 goals in two games. Goaltender Gavin Moffat was equally excellent on Saturday stopping 32 or 33 shots en route to a 6-1 Gamblers Win.

Muskegon is playing as well as anyone, winning their last five in a row. Leading scorers, Sacha Boisvert and Matvei Gridin will be key players to watch for the Lumberjacks. Boisvert has 27 goals on the season, good for second in the league. Gridin has 23 goals and has scored in each of the last three games. Both players will be a tough test for the Gamblers defense that will look to stop a team that has scored the third most goals in the league. Defenseman Ryan Koering is second in USHL at +32 on the season. It's clear that the team plays considerably better when he is on the ice, and he will look to make a big impact this weekend in an effort to leapfrog the Gamblers in the standings.

The Gamblers start the three game homestand against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday night at the Resch. GET TICKETS NOW: https://tinyurl.com/3pk265vy
