Battery Travels to Houston to Take on the Dynamo Reserves

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery will travel to Texas on Sunday, May 19 to take on Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo reserves. The game will be played at Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium with kick off set for 11 AM (EST). Sunday's match will be broadcast live on Sports radio 1450 AM with a live video stream of the game at houstondynamo.com.

The game is one of two inter-league matches that the Charleston Battery will play this season. Houston visits Charleston for the return match on Saturday, June 8. The game will count in the USL PRO standings for the Battery and in the MLS Reserve league standings for the Dynamo.

The Houston Dynamo are a familiar opponent for the Charleston Battery having traveled to Charleston three times to participate in the annual Carolina Challenge Cup at Blackbaud Stadium and were back-to-back champions in 2006 and 2007. In addition the teams have met on several occasions in the US Open Cup.

The Battery defeated the Dynamo in the final game of the 2013 Challenge Cup with a 2-1 victory behind goals from Dane Kelly and Austin Savage.

With 15 points, the Charleston Battery (5-2-0) are tied for second place in the USL PRO standings along with Harrisburg City Islanders (5-1-0). Orlando City (6-1-1) currently holds sole possession of first place.

The Battery lost 1-0 to the Charlotte Eagles in its last match played on Tuesday Night in Charlotte, NC. The loss against Charlotte snapped a five game winning streak.

Houston plays in a brand new stadium located in downtown Houston that seats 22,000. BBVA Compass Stadium boasts a Bermuda grass field which can accommodate soccer, football, rugby, and lacrosse and has a full high definition LED big screen as well as a view of the Houston skyline.

Viewing party brunch at Molly Darcy's

There will be a special viewing party of the match at Molly Darcy's Bar located at 235 East Bay Street on the corner of East Bay and Market in downtown Charleston at 11 AM (EST). Molly Darcy's is official home for Charleston Battery away match broadcasts.
