Charleston Battery News Release

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery are set to hit the road for two tough away matches this week, starting on Wed., Aug. 9, against Louisville City FC. Kickoff at Lynn Family Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET.

Wednesday's match will be the second of the year between Charleston and Louisville. The two sides met back in April to a scoreless draw at Patriots Point.

Charleston (11W-6L-6D, 39 pts) arrive in Kentucky looking to bounce back from a 0-1 defeat to Oakland Roots SC on Friday. Charleston turned in arguably the stronger performance of the night but were unable to find the back of the net except for an own goal that proved to make the difference. The loss snapped a five-game unbeaten run for the Battery.

Louisville (10W-7L-5D, 35 pts) enter Wednesday night on a two-game win streak, having recently dismantled FC Tulsa on the road, 0-3. Sean Totsch, Cameron Lancaster and Wilson Harris all scored in the road triumph. City currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings but have been a perennial top-of-the-table side and not a club to overlook.

Pierre Reedy is a player to keep an eye on for Charleston. Reedy, a recent addition to the roster, has four matches under his belt and has provided a spark off the bench.

Oliver Semmle is one to watch for Louisville. The shot-stopper currently leads the league in clean sheets (11).

It's poised to be a meaningful night for Louisville native Trey Muse as he makes his return to his hometown.

Wednesday will be a clash of strengths as the Battery hold the league's best away record and Louisville are undefeated against Charleston in the past six meetings.

The upcoming match will be the 17th all-time meeting between Charleston and Louisville.
