
Battery to host US Representative XI vs England National Game XI

Charleston, SC - The Charleston Battery will host the second US Representative XI vs England National Game XI match June 9 at Blackbaud Stadium; kick off is set for 7:30 PM. The game will feature US A-League All-Stars who will represent the United States versus the English Nationwide Conference All-Stars. The inaugural game between theses two sides was played March of 2002 in the UK, England won that game by a score of two goals to one.

The England National Game XI squad will feature the top professional players from the English Nationwide Conference and are managed by Paul Fairclough, who won the Vauxhall Conference with Stevenage Borough in 1996 and has also worked as Club Scout for Arsenal Football Club.
The US side will be comprised of the top US A-League players plus four Premier Development League players from the United States Adult Soccer Association. As the game is considered a National Team representative match only US players can be considered for selection; the 2004 US USL All-Star squad will be named at a later date.
Charleston Battery Head Coach, Chris Ramsey will coach the US side, his Assistant-Coach will be his number-two at the Battery, Mike Anhaeuser. Ramsey is in his third year at the helm of the Battery and has compiled an overall record of 39 wins, 11 losses and 15 ties. Ramsey won the 2003 A-League Championship in his second year at the Club.
Before joining the Charleston Battery Ramsey was a Regional Director of Coaching for the English Football Association. While working for the Football Association he served as the head coach of the England U20 National Team. During his tenure as the U20 coach, Ramsey successfully guided the team to the 1999 FIFA World Cup Finals in Nigeria. He was also the assistant coach of the U16 England Team at the 2000 European Championships in Israel. Ramsey also coached the U16's and U20's.

Tickets for the US Representative XI vs England National Game XI match are priced at $8 - $15 and are on sale now. 2004 Season ticket holders receive a $2 discount on their tickets and have until May 28 to claim their seats.
