Battery Takes on LA Blues and Phoenix FC Wolves

Charleston, SC. - The Charleston Battery concludes its 2013 USL PRO road schedule this weekend with a pair of games, taking on LA Blues on Thursday night (10:30 PM EST) and the Phoenix FC Wolves on Saturday (7:30 PM EST). Both matches will be broadcast live on Sports Radio 1450 AM with a live web stream also available at www.USLNation.com.

The Battery (11-6-6) enters the week's games in fourth position in the USL PRO Standings two points behind the third place Harrisburg City Islanders with three matches left to play. The top eight teams will advance to the USL PRO post season with the top four sides guaranteed a home quarterfinal match.

Charleston defeated the Richmond Kickers 5-2 last Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium to claim its fourth straight home win.

Midfielder Mike Azira led the way with a pair of goals, Colin Falvey, Dane Kelly and Heviel Cordoves all also scored as Charleston handed Richmond its first loss of the season.

Thursday's match versus LA (9-8-7, 34 points) marks the first time that the Battery will have played the Blues in Los Angeles. Charleston defeated LA at Blackbaud Stadium by a score of three goals to one on July 27; LA enters the weekend in sixth position.

On Saturday the Battery takes on a Phoenix side that is eliminated from playoff contention. Charleston defeated the expansion USL PRO side 5-1 at Blackbaud Stadium on July 24.

The Battery returns to Blackbaud Stadium for its final regular season home game on Thursday, August 15 versus Antigua Barracuda FC (7:30 PM).
