Battery Closes Out Regular Season Versus Antigua

Charleston, SC. - The Charleston Battery faces Antigua Barracuda FC in its final game of the USL PRO regular season on Thursday night at Blackbaud Stadium; gates open at 6 p.m. with kick off set for 7:30 p.m. The Battery has clinched a playoff berth but must wait until all the USL PRO games have concluded this weekend to know when and who it will face in the quarterfinal round.

The Battery (12-7-6) defeated the Phoenix FC Wolves 1-0 last Saturday night to earn a berth in the postseason. The lone goal was scored by a Phoenix defender in the 10th minute of the game.

Antigua (0-24-0) is eliminated from playoff contention. This is the second game between the teams in 2013; the Battery defeated Antigua 4-1 in the first match played at Blackbaud Stadium back on April 20.

Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser should have a full squad to select from on Saturday with the return to fitness of midfielder Ben Fisk and striker Austin Savage. The only player unavailable for selection is midfielder Nicki Paterson who serves a one-game suspension for yellow-card accumulation.

The top eight teams advance to the USL PRO playoffs with the top four sides guaranteed a home match in the quarterfinal round. The Battery enters the game in fourth position and depending on this weekends results could finish as high as third or as low as fifth.

The USL PRO playoffs feature a single elimination knockout format; the semifinal round is scheduled for the weekend of August 31with the Championship game set for the weekend of September 1.
