FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs dropped a rainy contest to the rival Wilmington Sharks 8-0 Tuesday night at "The Swamp."SwampDogs starting pitcher Aaron Lesiak (Soph./Presbyterian) battled through a 27-minute rain delay to allow only two runs in six innings, walking two and striking out seven, but his offense was unable to pick him up.
Six Sharks pitchers combined to blank the 'Dogs offense who entered play fourth in the Coastal Plain League in team batting average at .254.
Lesiak (0-1) got the loss and Cory Herndon (1-0) got the win for the Sharks. The SwampDogs (3-3) are back in action tomorrow night as they host the Wilson Tobs at 7:05 pm on Faith and Family Night. Reserve your tickets now by calling 910-426-5900.
The Fayetteville SwampDogs are in their 15th season playing in the Coastal Plain League. The SwampDogs are one of the most successful franchises in the league's history, making the Petitt Cup Playoffs eight times in the past 10 seasons, reaching the championship round three times. The SwampDogs boast 84 alumni taken in the draft and have produced six players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball.
